Privacy Policy
Last Updated: January 14, 2026
Nota Team ("we") values your privacy protection. This Privacy Policy
("Policy") explains how the Nota application ("the App") handles your
information. We are committed to maximizing the security of your
personal information while providing convenient services.
1. Information Collection
In the current version, Nota's core design principle is
on-device processing. The vast majority of data processing is
completed locally on your device, and we do not actively collect
your personal note content. We only access or collect necessary
information in the following limited scenarios, based on explicit
functional requirements and after obtaining your explicit authorization
through system prompts:
-
Data Required for Core Functionality (Local Processing):
-
Camera & Photos: When you use the camera to scan or
select photos from your library for text recognition, we need
access to your camera and photo library.
These images are temporarily loaded into your device's memory
for local OCR processing. After recognition is complete, unless
you actively choose to save it, the original image is not stored
in our system.
-
Microphone: When you use the "Voice Note" feature, we need
access to your microphone to record audio. Recorded audio files
(in .m4aformat) are
saved only in your device's local sandbox directory for
your personal playback.
-
Data Required for Basic Services (Optional Collection):
-
Diagnostic & Performance Information: To troubleshoot
crashes and improve app stability, we may collect
de-identified, non-personal technical information through
anonymous services like Apple's App Analytics, such as device
model, OS version, app usage frequency, and error logs (which do
not contain your note content). You can manage this data sharing
in your device's Privacy Settings.
- Information We May Collect in the Future:
As features expand (e.g., future addition of account sync, data backup,
or sharing features), we may collect information necessary to provide
such services (e.g., account name, encrypted data for syncing) with your
additional explicit consent. We will inform you clearly by updating this
Policy and will obtain your consent again.
2. Use of Information
We strictly adhere to the principle of "data minimization" and use
collected information only for the following purposes:
-
To provide, maintain, and improve the App's core OCR recognition and
note management features.
-
To analyze and resolve app crashes and performance issues to optimize
user experience.
-
For potential new features in the future, subject to your consent.
3. Storage and Security of Information
-
Local Storage: All your note data (text, image paths, audio
files) and app settings are stored encrypted via an SQLite database in
your device's sandbox directory (Documents/). This data is
not automatically uploaded to our servers.
-
Data Security: We employ industry-standard security measures
(such as local data encryption, access controls) to protect your
information. However, please note that no method of transmission over
the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to
protect your information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
-
Data Retention: Your data will remain on your device as long
as you do not uninstall the App or actively delete it via the "Clear
Data" function within the App. Uninstalling the App will result in the
deletion of locally stored data.
4. Sharing and Disclosure of Information
We
do not sell, trade, or share your personal note content with any
third party for marketing purposes. We may disclose information only in the following strictly limited
circumstances:
-
With Your Consent: We may share information with other parties
when we have your explicit consent to do so (e.g., sharing a note via
the system share sheet).
-
To Comply with Laws: When we believe in good faith that
disclosure is necessary to comply with applicable laws, regulations,
legal processes, or governmental requests.
5. Your Rights
Depending on the laws of your region, you may have certain rights
regarding your personal information. Regarding Nota's current features,
you can exercise your rights in the following ways:
-
Access, Correction, and Deletion: You can directly access,
edit, and delete all notes and content you create within the App.
-
Revoking Permissions: You can revoke the App's permissions at
any time via your device's "Settings" > "Privacy" >
"Camera/Photos/Microphone." After revocation, we will be unable to
continue collecting the corresponding information, but this will not
affect information processing conducted prior to revocation based on
your authorization.
-
Data Export: You can use the "Export" function provided within
the App to export your note data in common formats (e.g., .txt, .pdf,
.zip) to your device or another location of your choice.
6. Children's Privacy
This App is not intended for children under the age of 13 (or the higher
age specified in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect
personal information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and
become aware that your child has provided us with personal information
without your consent, please contact us using the details below, and we
will strive to delete such information.
7. Updates to This Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time to reflect changes in laws,
technology, or our services. When we update it, we will post the new
policy on this page and update the "Last Updated" date. For material
changes, we will notify you through an in-app notice or other means.
Your continued use of the App constitutes your acceptance of the revised
Policy.
8. Contact Us
If you have any questions, comments, or complaints about this Policy or
our privacy practices, please feel free to contact us using the details
